SITREP- the Bear stirs...

Following the previous grainy images obtained by a high-level U-2 overflight, an RAF Canberra was dispatched to carry out more detailed low-level recconaissance, following reports of Soviet Forces massing on the Lanarkshire front...

In other words, I've taken some better pictures of the Elhiem Soviets I've been working on.

These come from the Platoon Command pack, and have so far came out alright. The drab WWII style fatigues, with the full colour insignia, provide a nice contrast to the modern DPM uniforms of the british infantry they'll be facing across the table.

Currently got these plus another 6 I'm hoping to finish by the middle of next month. And once I obtain a BMP or 2 (and some FV43s), we can hopefully crack on with some further efforts at the Cold War rules...

Orficers Francais.

This week I have mostly been painting an Officer and an Ensign carrying the ordonnance colour of the  Regiment d'Kronenbourg for our FaIW games.

28mm figures kindly supplied at Kirriemuir show by Ian at Eagle Figures.

It was great to talk to a manufacturer who was prepared to sell individual figures on request.

Ian has a particularly fine range of colonial militia that I intend to acquire for ongoing games.

Kirriemuir Wargames Show 09/11/13 TARGE

As always Kirriemuir was worth the trip.

Here are a few pics from the day.

Firstly a participation game based on the WWII Bruneval Raid, by Old Meldrum WGC. Nicely done and all participants seemed to enjoy the chance to wear red berets!

Next, Dunfermline WGC's Battle of the Metaurus. Small but beautifully formed.

A 28mm late WWI game again very nicely presented.

RAF Leuchars' participation game 'Divine Wind'. As ever presented with bags of enthusiasm getting plenty of involvement, and superbly put together.

Gourock Wargames Association presented a What if German Invasion of Southern England 1940, 15mm. Lots of lovely scenery.

Main Hall.

Dead Man's Hand. Wild West in 28mm from Angus Wargames Club.

A good day out, and for once I did not arrive home with large quantities of unpainted lead, much to Mrs Stewart's relief!

Cavalry elements.

Some cavalry to add to the Saxon/Early feudal English.

And yes I know I forgot to grass the bases!

This army will probably make the trip to Kirriemuir at the weekend, if I can get the bases finished and can figure out what to call them.

I have really enjoyed getting back to 15mm.

Cold War Soviet Colour Test

Just a quick colour test for the 20mm Cold War Soviets. Base colour is Humbrol 155, with the helmet H75, and the webbing in H98. Pictures are guff, unfortunately.

Very much work in progress...
